Whitney Port’s Activewear Line is Coming to Target
Former The Hills star, Whitney Port, took a business risk that is proving to have paid off.
Following a suggestion from a friend, Whitney Port pitched her idea for her activewear line, to Target, and the mass retailer has agreed to the collaboration. Port is the next in an impressive line of fashion designers to collaborate with Target in creating limited edition collections that are available at affordable prices.
At this point, the name of the collection has not been revealed. However, what is known is that the line will feature 16 pieces and it is slated to hit stores this coming September – just in time for back to school shopping. True to Target’s affordable designer collaborations of the past, the price point for the line will range between $19.99 – $49.99. Little is known about the style of the impending activewear line, but according to WWD, Port has noted that it will have “ballet touches” and “soft pinks,” both elements inspired by her time as a dancer. However, the entire collection will not be delicate and barre-inspired – Port also stated that she’d like to incorporate “funky prints” into the line, which will add great variety.
The reality TV star turned designer is best known for her fashion label, Whitney Eve, which is a contemporary collection that offers a variety of garments, including casual wear and party dresses. In addition to Whitney Eve, Port has designed for Cooper Street and Sportgirl in the past, both Australian based labels. Therefore, this partnership with Target will mark Port’s first collaboration with a U.S. retailer. The idea to create a fitness clothing collection, is inspired by Whitney’s active lifestyle and her passion for staying healthy and fit.
