Practicing Mindfulness To Live In The Moment
Learn how to become more self-aware so you can successfully live in the moment.
Practicing mindfulness and learning to be self-aware is so important, especially in a society that normalizes constantly doing something and being on the go. When you practice mindfulness it basically means you’ve reached a certain mental state that is achieved by focusing on the present moment and acknowledging your personal feelings and your body’s sensations. It’s obvious why we can overlook the importance of this – we’re always focusing on the things going on around us. Between things such as our jobs, family relationships, financial responsibilities, and electronics it can be hard to take a step back sometimes and focus purely on ourselves, even when we’re the ones who need it the most. You only have one mind and one body, and it’s super important that you treat it with nothing but love and respect on a daily basis. Don’t go through life in a fog, constantly neglecting to stay in tune with what’s going on inside of you. Instead, join us in Practicing Mindfulness To Live In The Moment.

Focus on One Thing at a Time
In today’s world we’re literally never doing nothing. Our culture has stressed the importance of getting things done and being busy so much so that we feel like we’re in a constant competition with those around us. We don’t have to be though.
Make the conscious effort to do one thing at a time and worry about one thing at a time. Not only will this help you to be more in the moment and present within yourself, but focusing on one thing at a time increases your chances of getting it done fully and correctly.

Move On – Don’t Hold Grudges
When you’re in the moment all you can do is be the best you can be. All you can do is your best. When that moment ends it’s important that you allow that moment to end. You can’t go back in time and you can’t change the past, and by dwelling on it you’re allowing stress and negativity to thrive.
Don’t hold grudges against that moment or the people that were present in that moment with you. Accept what is and move on, and if you must, use that moment as a learning experience and nothing more.
-
Look for the Beauty in Everything
If you’re a glass half empty person you have to switch your thinking and begin to view life as the glass half full. It’s true that not every single moment in life is going to be filled with happiness, but it’s important to make an effort to find the positivity in each and every moment – trust us, it is there.
Begin to accept things as they are, the good and the bad, but only allow yourself to focus on the good.

Learn When to Let Nature Run its Course
You cannot control everything. No matter how much you wish everything in life would go according to plan, it doesn’t always work that way. In these moments you have to learn to let nature run its course and accept that that’s the way things are going to be.
View these moments as stepping stones – they’re leading you on your way to what you want and making you stronger as you go along. With no challenges or difficulties in life you wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate the positives, so when things don’t work out according to plan, simply learn to accept that.

Focus on Your Breathing
You may have heard before that focusing on your breathing can help you to calm down in a stressful situation, but why wait until the stress kicks in? Focusing on your breathing is the perfect way to experience balance and harmony within your life, and deep breaths help to calm down and relax your brain.
-
Shift Your Awareness
Are you aware of all the physical sensations you experience on a daily basis? Other than an occasional stomach growl and itch every now and then we may not ever pay attention to the feelings we experience in our bodies.
By focusing on all the things you experience in your body you’ll notice you’ll start to become much more mindful of what your body needs to thrive.
-
Unplug and Learn to be Present
How often a day do you check your phone? You probably do a lot…even more than you think you do. Many of us are completely reliant on our phones whether it’s to connect with others or just stay connected to what’s going on in the world. Always being glued to your phone though sucks you out of reality and places you in a virtual one.
Set aside a time each day where you don’t use any electronics and take this time to become more aware of the world around you. Read a book. Take a walk in the park. Have an in-person conversation with someone. Whatever you do just make sure you’re really immersing yourself in what’s going on around you.

Practice Yoga
If there’s anything that will cause you to practice mindfulness it’s yoga. Yoga is all about focusing on your breathing and being one with your mind, body, and soul.
Try practicing yin yoga – this type of yoga is much slower than other forms where you hold each pose for much longer than normal. This gives you the opportunity to focus on exactly how your body is feeling in each pose, which in turn will help you be more present in the moment.
-
Meditate
Allow yourself some time each day to meditate. Focus not only on your breathing but on your body as a whole and focus on each and every sensation you’re experiencing in your body.
We often take advantage of how amazing our bodies are. They keep us alive and functional day after day and we don’t always show them the love they deserve. By practicing meditation you’re allowing yourself to appreciate and acknowledge how you’re feeling and everything your body does for you.

Reflect On Your Day
Each night as your end your day, take the time to reflect on everything that happened throughout the day. Who did you talk to? What did you eat? Where did you go? How were you feeling? By reflecting back on each and every thing you did and experienced during that day you’re learning to ground yourself and be present in the moment.
