Last night, one of the fashion industry’s most recognizable and beloved models took her last trip down the catwalk. Gisele Bundchen recently announced her plan to retire from the runway. Last night, during Sao Paulo Fashion Week, the iconic angel walked in the Colcci’s Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2016 show (a Brazilian label), which concluded her 24-year career. The emotional finale was bittersweet and witnessed by some of Bundchen’s closest friends and family, including her mother, Vania Bundchen, and husband, Tom Brady.
Bundchen, the highest-paid model in 2014, began her modeling career at only 14-years of age, when she was discovered by a modeling agency. The model reflected on her early beginnings and hugely successful career on instagram:
While Bundchen may be done with the catwalk, she is far from saying farewell to fashion and modeling for good. On her last trip down the runway to take her final bow, Gisele was accompanied by models donning white T-shirts in her honor. Bundchen’s shirt promised, “The Best is Yet to Come,” leaving many optimistic and excited to see what the next chapter will bring.
