Designer Clothing at Dress Barn?
Dress Barn and upscale clothing? The two may seem contradictory, but Dress Barn is the latest company collaborating with high-end designers to provide posh clothing at affordable prices. On March 4th, Dress Barn will introduce their new line, the Dressbar, featuring exclusive designer brands. The Dressbar line will be easily accessible, giving customers the option to find featured designs online, in-stores, or, if you’re in NYC, at a freestanding pop-up shop on Fifth Avenue.
In an exclusive interview with Women’s Wear Daily, the president of Dress Barn, Jeffery Gerstel, explained, “it all starts with dresses. It’s our highest market share business.” With dresses being the main focus, the designers that have been named for this collaboration are pretty impressive. Carmen Marc Valvo, Heidi Weisel, and Michael Smaldone from Adrianna Papell will all be featured in the Dressbar line – with each designer showcasing 6-10 Dressbar-exclusive dresses. The only thing more exciting than this lineup is the price, with dresses falling into the $42 – $70 price point.
Dress Barn, founded by Roslyn Jaffee in 1962, has a reputation for catering to middle-aged women. However, the company’s new collaboration with high-end designers clearly shows that the corporation is expanding its customer profile and is ready to compete in the affordable-fashion market. This re-branding of the company seems to promise an exciting shopping experience on March 4th!
