10 Fun Takes on Your Morning Coffee
For many of us, a morning coffee is a staple of our routine that we look forward to after waking up. For others, it is a midday hold-me-off meal, as it is the most popular beverage in the world. Either way, coffee is enjoyed by many in various forms, all year round. So why not spice up your life by incorporating some fun ways of drinking coffee? Transform your typical coffee into an exciting, flavorful latte or an iced beverage to jump-start the day!
1. A new take on almond milk: Iced Almond-Macadamia Latte
Combine a cup of blanched almonds, half a cup of macadamia nuts, and one-third of a cup of pitted dates and one liter of water in a blender. Process the mixture until blended into a puree. Strain it through a cheesecloth to separate nut chunks from the milky-goodness. Chill the milk. Once ready, combine two shots of your favorite espresso with the nut milk and enjoy!
2. Original creamer: Vietnamese coffee
Before pouring the coffee into your mug, pour in two tablespoons of condensed milk and then gently pour in the coffee. Add a handful of ice to complete the delicious iced coffee! Stir the condensed milk into your coffee as desired before drinking.
3. Salted Vanilla Coffee
Put a twist on the typical milk-and-sugar by adding sea salt into your coffee! Combine milk, coffee and a half of teaspoon of sea salt in a coffee mug. Add in 8-10 drops of vanilla extract to make your coffee taste like a crafted Starbucks beverage.
4. Cinnamon Iced Coffee with Coffee Ice Cubes
Brew some coffee the night before and pour it into ice cube molds. Pop into the freezer and let freeze overnight. In the morning, pour coffee and milk of your choice into a coffee mug. Add in some coffee ice cubes and sprinkle in two pinches of cinnamon for a spicy, awakening effect.
5. White Chocolate Mocha (ICED!)
We all love white chocolate mochas; the drink is one of the most popular beverages at coffee shops, but is actually surprisingly easy to make – combine two espresso shots with four ounces of milk and two ounces of white chocolate syrup. Complete with ice cubes for a refreshing, awakening morning beverage!6.
6. Almond Caramel Frappuccino
Pour almond milk into an ice cube tray the night before and let freeze overnight. In the morning, combine the ice cubes and coffee in a blender until all of the ice is finely crushed. Pour some caramel syrup to the bottom and sides of your cup. Next, pour in the blended mixture. Complete your Frappuccino by topping it with whipped cream. Yum!
7. Mint Chocolate Coffee with coconut milk
Make coffee ice cubes by pouring coffee into ice cube treys and chilling them overnight. In the morning, put the coffee ice cubes into your coffee cup. Drizzle mint chocolate syrup over the coffee ice cubes. Top with coconut milk and enjoy!
Also, you can combine coconut milk, mint chocolate syrup, and the coffee ice cubes in a blender and process until the ice is finely crushed – enjoy as a mint chocolate Frappuccino!
8. Coconut Horchata Coffee
Coconut horchata is a delicious cinnamon, almond and coconut mixture that will make your coffee have a spicy kick to it – a perfect pick-me-up for those early risers! Best part is that this beverage is dairy free. Combine coffee with the coconut horchata (half of each in your coffee cup), add a handful of ice cubes, stir, and enjoy!
9. Vanilla Frappe with Homemade Vanilla Whipped Cream
This one takes a bit more effort to prepare, but oh, is it worth it! To prepare the coffee, combine 4 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream, 1 cup of Vanilla Iced Coffee (for example, International Delight), 1 cup of ice cubes and 1/3 cup milk of your choice in a blender. Blend until most of the ice cubes are broken up. Pour caramel syrup to the bottom and sides of your coffee cup. Pour the blended coffee mixture over the caramel syrup. Next, combine 2 cups heavy cream, ¼ cup sugar, and seeds from 1 vanilla bean in a large bowl. Using a hand-held blender, mix the ingredients until whipped. Top the whipped cream over your coffee and enjoy your beautifully crafted beverage!
10. S’mores Iced Coffee
Combine coffee and chocolate milk in your coffee cup. Add a handful of ice cubes. In a large bowl, combine whipping cream and powdered sugar until smoothly whipped. Mix in mini marshmallows. Top your coffee with your homemade whipped cream. Sprinkle with crushed graham crackers and enjoy!
