Last Minute Valentine’s Day Plans
Because there’s more to Valentine’s Day than a fancy dinner reservation.
Valentine’s Day is all about spreading the love. Most of us make reservations at our favorite restaurant so that we can enjoy a tasty meal with our loved one and not have to worry about doing any work. The thing is, doing work can sometimes be fun! There are so many things you can do on Valentine’s Day that don’t require dropping a large amount of money on a fancy dinner, and I promise they’re things you’ll actually enjoy doing. From game nights to spa nights to even couples yoga, we’re challenging you to think outside the box this Valentine’s Day and spend your day and night doing something other than sitting in a crowded, fancy restaurant. To give you some inspiration we came up with some Last Minute Valentine’s Day Plans so you can treat your date to something different this year.
Picnic in the Park
Didn’t get a chance to snag Valentine’s Day reservations at a fancy restaurant? Well then opt for a picnic in the park. This option is much cheaper and waaay more romantic. Make some finger foods, buy a bottle of wine, and grab your comfiest blanket for a tasty meal enjoyed al fresco – crowds and loud talkers not included. (P.S. too cold outside? Then set up your picnic indoors! Creativity scores brownie points, and nothing’s more romantic than a night alone.)
A tasty meal prepared for you may sound nice, but it’s much more fun to prepare it yourself. Stay far away from the over-crowded restaurants this Valentine’s Day, grab your date, and cook dinner together. It’ll be a fun bonding experience and will also save you a ton of money. If your cooking isn’t the greatest try making something easy like a pizza. Simply buy some pre-made dough, put on your own toppings, and all you have to do is bake it.
At Home Spa Night
You can spend a lot of money on a spa package at your local spa, or you can bring the spa to you! Purchase some face masks, bath bombs, even a bottle of wine or champagne, and enjoy an intimate night with your Valentine. You can even create your own menu of services to make it seem more legit. Play some soft music in the background, light some candles, and bring the romance to you.
Check Out an Art Exhibit
Art exhibitions normally involve dressing up fancy and sipping on champagne – and what’s better than that on Valentine’s Day? Start a new tradition this Valentine’s Day that doesn’t involve the normal dinner and a movie. Head over to a museum of your choosing and enjoy the artwork with your loved one.
Do Yoga Together
Yoga can be very intimate with all the stretching, meditating, and breathing. And some places even offer couples yoga (tons of coupons and great deals can be found on Groupon for this!) If you’re in a pinch though and aren’t able to make it to an actual yoga studio, you can always find yoga videos on YouTube.
At Home Movie Marathon
Why spend the money on going out to a movie when you can watch one in the comfort of your own home? You’ll save a ton of money and won’t have to worry about people talking in the theatre. Pull together a bunch of yours and your date’s favorite flicks, pop some popcorn, and have a full-blown movie marathon.
Get a bit nostalgic and spend the day or night playing some of your favorite childhood board games or video games. A little competition is the perfect way to bring some spark to your night. To make it even more interesting come up with a prize for the winner!
You don’t have to go to an expensive winery to do a wine tasting – create your own wine tasting right at home! Head over to the liquor store and purchase a few different bottles of wine you’ve never had before (to save money and wine purchase the small individual bottles of wine!) Maybe even pick up some cheese and crackers to make it feel like the real deal.
Go Out for Dessert, Or Make Your Own
There’s no Valentine’s Day without chocolates, so go to a local ice cream shop or bakery and enjoy a tasty dessert together. Or, even better, make dessert yourself! Ice cream sundaes, brownies, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries – the possibilities are endless!
Go to an Arcade
On Valentine’s Day it’s a guarantee all the restaurants around you will be packed, and probably the movie theaters as well. What most likely won’t be packed though is the arcade, and what’s better than having a bit of fun? Pretend you’re a kid again and head over to your local arcade for some ski ball and crane machines.
