Instagram Tests New Shopping Feature
20 brands will be testing a new Instagram feature that adds product details and outside links to images – making online shopping that much easier!
Beginning next week, Instagram will begin rolling out the newest features for testing to a select few including Kate Spade and Warby Parker. According to WWD, the features will allow brands to add up to 5 tags to an Instagram image that will display the product name and price when clicked upon. Additionally, users will be able to swipe to see other products tagged in the photo. To purchase the product, users can simply press the “Shop Now” option in the product details, which will bring the user to the product’s site. Other features the social media app will be testing include the ability to view product recommendations and to save items to buy later. Instagram made a conscious decision to create a “show now” button a rather than a “buy now” button. The company believes this will allow more time for the “evaluation stage.”
